Recently, on an NPR report, Harry Reid was questioned about whether the democrats should try to impeach this unworthy president who acts like an elementary school bully at recess on the playground (dt’s response to the white house correspondence dinner comedian is the latest example of many) for his numerous impeachable offenses. Reid’s response, like so many I have heard from spineless democrats, was “no they should not”, because the minority that support him would be up in arms and it is a very arduous process. Arduous maybe, but needed non-the less.

Why is it when something like this comes up the democrats don’t want to confront the obvious and do the tough work?

Ah confrontation! They don’t have the stomach for confrontation unlike the gop (the lower case lettering is intended…they don’t deserve respect). The gop will, at the drop of the hat, or the rightful nomination of a supreme court judge, or the passage of a bill that actually helps the people of the US, or the mention of taxing the rich, or the mention of cutting the bulbous military budget, or increasing the minimum wage, or passing legislation to provide single payer health care or so many other reasonable ideas that would actually benefit the American people, throw the biggest hissy fit and wine and cry, then put the proverbial brakes on any such positive action no matter the size of the fight and even in the face of overwhelming public approval for the said action. They could care less what the people want. The people don’t have the wherewithal (money) to support their agenda, so they fight the fight for the rich and powerful. (Citizens United, this seemingly non consequential judgment by the Supreme Court, has done more harm to our democracy than most will admit.)

The gop will confront and fight for their agenda no matter what, whereas the democrats back down and sulk to a corner. Confronting and fighting is exactly what the democrats need to do in this case of impeachment, in my humble opinion. Yes it may be difficult and yes it may be confrontational to the trump supporters (another intended lower case lettering), BUT it is the right thing to do. Why is it that doing the right thing is so frond upon? This president has pushed the envelope on just about everything he has touched, lied about everything he has spoken of, and yet the spineless democrats sit idly by allowing this to continue.

The gop brought impeachment to President Clinton because he lied...

But, not about colluding with a foreign power.

Not about outing a federal undercover agent.

Not about starting an unnecessary war that killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqi citizens and killed and maimed so many of our military personnel on the lie that they had WMDs, (Bush, Cheney, Rumfeld and more should be in jail or worse for their actions).

And, not about being a racist bigot.

He lied about a consensual sexual act with a woman other than his wife. Wow like that is the first time that has come up in history!

Yet, this current president gets a free “advance to go” card and a “get out of jail free” card because he is a big, loud, obnoxious, pushy republican that the weak democrats cower to, refuse to stand up to, and fight for what is right. Rather, they say wait till Nov 2020 and vote him out. Hell, we may not be here in 2020 with his pudgy fat finger on the nuclear button.

I am in the construction business which has so many rules and regulations for the protection of the people and property that will ultimately use the buildings I build. Those rules are put there for a purpose. If I do not build according to these rules and regulations, actions can and will be taken that will prevent me from doing my job.

Isn’t this the same thing? This president is breaking the rules and regulations set by our constitution and our laws to protect our people and property. His actions are contrary to the rule of law. His spoken words have little meaning because of his habitual lying. We have the tools to stop this.

He is not building an America according to the rules and regulations set forth. Isn’t it time we as a “rule of law” nation, a nation that has endured under a constitution for over 200 years, use those safe guards to protect ourselves from harm and remove the source of the problem?

Isn’t it time to stop the building of an unsafe governmental structure, namely the foundation of a fascist dictatorship?
